- Life is short, don't take a second for granted.
- Forgive. You will sleep better.
- Be an advocate for yourself.
- Be kind.
- If you aren't on an adventure, you should be planning one.
- Don't judge. Everyone has a story. EVERY SINGLE PERSON (or someone close to them) has a story. You never know what someone is going through or has gone through. If you are so inclined, take the time to find out. Pain, loss, grief, loneliness, depression, guilt, sadness, stress, PTSD, anxiety, trauma, feelings of inadequacy, insecurity, self-doubt, self-esteem issues, financial issues, infertility, abuse, addiction, medical issues, homelessness, insomnia ... everyone has a story.
- If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all.
- Be the bigger person.
- Your conscience matters. Be good to it.
- Love with all your heart.
- Don't hold grudges.
- "Turn your face towards the sun and the shadows will fall behind you." -A Maori Proverb
- Your path is not written for you. You need to create it, and you can change it. It's all up to you.
- Cherish your past if it was good to you. Let it go if it hurt you. Don't dwell on the bad. Instead, focus on your present and how you will get to the future you want.
- Don't forget about your present. Your future is important, but not so important you shouldn't be grateful for the day before you.
- Laugh often; it is the best medicine. Smile even more often.
- Cherish yourself. Don't forget to take care of yourself.
- Think positive thoughts about yourself. Be true to yourself. Believe in yourself. Don't belittle yourself. You are beautiful, strong, and capable of more than you know.
- Remember the small things in life, and be purposeful in your actions of doing small, good things for others. Sometimes, these things mean more than you can imagine.
- If someone is consistently mean to you, or makes you feel less than you are, give them a few chances, talk to them about your concerns, and if they don't change, don't keep them in your life. You don't need to deal with someone else's negative energy. You don't need to be mean or rude. Simply tell them that until they decide to treat you better, you won't be making time for them in your life any longer.
- Treat today as if it were your last. Consider the idea that you may never see a loved one again. Would you say or do something differently? Would you mend bridges? How about say "I love you"?
- If someone else can achieve it, why can't you?
- Be selfless. It's a good feeling.
- Good friends make an effort too. A friendship, a real friendship, isn't one-sided.
- Say thank you. If someone has done something for you, and you truly appreciate it, tell them or write them a card. Hand-written cards can go a long way.
